We keep rollin'

Hello all! I've gotten plenty of grief about ignoring the blog (yes, you Michelle)...so I'm back. I'm going to try to be more disciplined about getting out here and writing. Things remain crazy in our world - and introspection seems to be the first to go.

So, update...we are not pregnant, once again. That makes three strikes. So I've talked to my OB - I have to share the OB story with you guys sometimes - but I talked to her, and we are headed to the fertility clinic. So the ultra non-romantic saga gets even more clinical. yay.

So...what does fertility mean? Well, first they'll do the range of tests to make sure that my hormones are doing all that they are supposed to (if you ask the wife, she'll tell you that my hormones are just fine and will reference my mood swings over the last 2 months...but nobody is asking her). Then, assuming my hormones and all are well behaved, they'll do the insemination. To calm the nerves of all of you who think you'll have to babysit for us, no...that does not mean we are having 8 kids.

Basically, they'll probably give me a small boost of hormones, just to make sure that the egg shows up at the right time (Probably a good idea, because I'm always late, and my eggs may have gotten that trait from me. I have a feeling I'll be apologizing a lot over the years for the traits the kids get from me...but I digress). Then, the doctor will use an ultra-fancy syringe to get the swimmers further than we could...deliver them right into the uterus with my egg. They're guys after all...they can be lazy...at least this way they won't have to go far.

We don't yet know when all of this will go down. They have to do tests, doctor's appointments, lots of hoops to jump through. We'll keep you all posted.

As for the rest of our life...it hasn't slowed down that much, but it has mellowed. The mom is in a nursing home about 45 minutes north of us...getting lots of rehab, and should be home in March. She's doing really quite well, and we are pleased.

The wife and I headed to NYC this week. I have to go for work...we had a free plane ticket, and enough hotel points to stay the weekend. We figure that we could use the time away. Of course, most of the time I'll be working, and the wife will be sleeping in and sightseeing, but she's been a trooper through all the drama and could use a break. I wouldn't want to sleep in anyways - too much to see and do. :-)

Have a good week people! I'll post again soon (I'll try...I'll really, really try).
